The Alabama abandoned vehicle bill of sale should be used under the following circumstances;

  • If an entity has towed a vehicle and ha contacted the owner(s) via Certified Mail may sell the vehicle within sixty (60) days
  • Notice of the time, date, and location of the sale must be publicized in the newspaper at least thirty (30) days before the sale with a full description of the vehicle.
  • Further written notice of the sale of the vehicle must be given to the owner(s) of the vehicle in reference to the time, date, and location of the auction.

  • Date of Sale
  • Location of Sale
  • Newspaper published dates as required by Statute Title 32, Chapter 13-4(b)
  • Name of Newspaper/Courthouse Posting
  • Date of First (1st) Publication
  • Date of Second (2nd) Publication
  • Attach original MVT 32-13R including Certified Mail sent Date
  • Sale Price of Abandoned Motor Vehicle
  • Amount of Repair
  • Towing Expenses
  • Storage Expenses
  • Other Expenses
  • Buyer’s Name and Address
  • Seller’s Signature and Address
  • All signatures must be notarized

Documents Required to Conduct the Sale

  • Outstanding Certificate of Title (if any)
  • Bill of Sale (Notarized)
  • Abandoned Motor Vehicle Record Request Response Statement
  • Original Certified Mail Return Receipt Forms
  • Payment of the Title Fee
