Oregon DMV (Vehicle) Bill of Sale | 501
The Oregon DMV bill of sale, otherwise known as Form 501, is available to be downloaded in a fillable or printable version. The form is to be used to draft an agreement between a buyer and seller of a motor vehicle and after it has been signed by the seller and the monetary funds have been transferred the document becomes legally binding.
- Odometer Disclosure Statement – Must be completed according to federal law if any vehicle is traded that is under 10 years of age and below 16,000 lb.
- Notice of Transfer (Form 6890) – According to 803.112 the seller must send notice of the vehicle’s transfer within ten (10) days from the date of sale.
The form should be brought to the new owner’s Local DMV Office for registration.
How to Write
Fill-in the blank highlighted fields with the following information:
- Plate Number
- Year of Vehicle
- Make
- Vehicle Identification Number
- Buyer’s Name and Address
- Date of Purchase
- Printed Name of Seller
- Seller’s Signature
Buyer has thirty (30) days from the date of sale to register the vehicle or be subject to a late fee.
